Walbro 255 is in.

Post by legacy92ej22t »

Installation was a snap. Hardest part was getting the main fuel line off from the top of the pump so I could get it out. The GSS341 dropes right in and the WRX install kit was a perfect match. The connector on the wiring harness for the pump matched perfect so it was nice.

Drivability seems improved but I'm still not running high boost so I don't know if it will completely solve FC or not. SO far so good though. :)

If I understand correctly, you used a WRX In-Tank Walbro Pump on your late Legacy and everything bolted up correctly?

I ask this 'cause I recently inspected my fuel pump and man... it looks as if it survived vietnam (very rusted and probably leaks...cause very bad odours are emmanating from there..)

Anyhow, was wondering about what I could use to replace it... If this WRX Walbro Pump seems to fit well, that might just be what I will do....

Anyways, would be good to get a new pump, might as well upgrade while I'm at it!

I did the same thing.

Dropped right in.

The pump is for earlier WRXes, and it frops right in. The newer WRX pumps work as well, but they don't fit without a little tiny bit more work.

Yes the WRX kit fits like stock. It even uses the same plug.

when you say early WRX do you mean the ones that were before the 02 arrived here in the states, ie. the GC chassis rather than the current GD chassis.

Hit fuel cut today. I was only at like 10 psi too. I wonder if my ECU is bad. :?

Engine is running rough again too.

I'm tired.

I got the 441 with 02+ install kit.

No mods, fits like it should, plug it in and go.

Same here, got the 441. Didn't go "right in" until I found the installation kit that looked right, on a separate page. As a matter of fact, I was quite confused when trying to replace the old pump without the install kit. Had to put everything back in the tank and go find the kit.

Don't order the walbro without the kit. You won't be happy. :)

The new fuel pump won't eliminate fuel cut, either. That's a separate project, gotta clamp the voltage the ECU reads for MAP at 12psi or under to eliminate fuel cut.

I ordered the install kit at the same time, so mine dropped right in.

Hey guys, it's the 341, not 441. ;)

Chris- I already run a FCD. We (Vikash, Phil and I) found that on the OEM pump the ECU was still inducing FC even though the MAF signal was clamped, when the O2 sensor saw lean readings. The Walbro 255 cured this problem in Phils car as well as Boostjunkie never having the problem because he always had a 255.

I have had and am having other issues though too which is why I'm starting to suspect my ECU might be funky. I'm having severe hesitation problems and my fueling seems off. It's like the ECU is reacting too slowly to the throttle.

  how quickly I jumble model numbers when I no longer hold the part in my hand...

So anyway... no idea what you're talkin about. My ECU hasn't attempted to cut off my fuel supply since I got the FCD working properly. Even hitting 17psi on the stock system here I don't get anything like that. Before or after the Walbro.

Have you watched your FCD input/output voltage with a meter while accelerating WOT to see if its doing its job properly? I had to adjust the resistor values on mine since we didn't have precision %1 resistors, and then it was fine. Before that it seemed to "raise" fuel cut to a higher pressure.

How far was your stock pump getting you into boost before you hit fuel cut? I'm interested to hear more about this.

It fits but it doesn't line up just right so you have to tie strap it and stuff. You might have to do some rewiring too but I don't know for sure.

maybe I would be better off buying a 341?

I'd say so. They cost the same and the 341 just drops right in. Make sure you get the WRX installation kit too.
