My birthday's next week and I want a gun.

i dont think my parents would buy me EM for my birthday, but it would be nice though.

i was thinking about suspension bits, what would you suggest i do first?

i'd rather wait to paint the rear bumper, i might have a line on a red bumper in a junkyard around here.

big brakes is anothing thing i think they wont buy.... but i might be able to upgrade my stock stuff :)

any more ideas?

EDIT: damn! Art is buying the suspension from our wrecked STi.... i wanted it :( lol

are you running L brakes or turbo brakes?

how about steering rack bushings, engine mounts, trans mounts, gN front tops, shifter bushings, swaybar chassis mounts, stiffer control arm bushings, new stereo stuff, or an inflatable woman to put in the passenger seat so you can drive in the carpool lane?

That's not the only thing you could do with it.

e36?

always thought they were kinda topheavy for a genuine track car, what with the undersquare inline engine, standard moonroof and all. I'd love one for a fun street car though.

Whoa! that m3 is on 2 wheels!!

There are many m3's that don't have sunroofs. A good friend of ours has a 95 with no sunroof.

At any rate, an m3 is a better track car than an STi imo

Oh yeah, its an option. My bad

I guess ill agree with that, but neither are thoroughbred sports cars. They're both derived from high-volume sedans, there's compromises in the chassis. And they're still topheavy ;)

Can't you get the E30, E36, and E46 as coupe's? So loosely based on a 3-series, but new breed suspension helps. I used to have a list of the differences between the E36 325 and the M3. It was fairly extensive, and neither shared a single suspension component or, it would seem, pickup points. Kinda interesting.

If you want a thoroughbred sports car/track car, you need to build one. It's hard to find a chassis stiff enough and light enough to be able to handle enough power to make it competitively fast against cars with more brawn than brains. You can be fast with a bad setup if you have enough power.

The e36 and 46 m3's have the same suspension geometry, but offset bushings in the lower control arms. The e46 has the same suspension geometry as the e36, its essentially a re-skin. The e30 m3 has 3 degrees less toe-in under compression in the back. They all have different struts, springs, and roll bars. All 3's after the e21 (sharknose 3) were available in sedan or '2 door sedan.' The e36 is the only one you could get in an automatic or 4 door, if you discount smg.
That's all from memory, so i mighta goofed something.

I'd rather track a mr2, an FD, an older 911, 944, or boxter, corvette, a starion/conquest, or a power-injected 240sx or miata. All of those will run about the same price as an m3 to get a good track worthy specimen.

I've driven a lot of bmw's, and am a big fan, but i just don't think they'd make for fun track cars.

back on topic,

You should have daddy buy you a driving school instead of new parts.
