I Have Returned

Post by LegacyPunk »

Well, im back from Ireland. Got back Wednesday night.

First off....London BLOWS, maybe it's just my massive hat for big cities or maybe it really does blow. First we got to ride with the worlds first bus driving rally driver, (and I thought Boston drivers were nuts) and aparently the brittish have not heard of AIR CONDITIONING. We were in some hot sweaty basement room for the two nights we were there, right next to the employee smoke/break area. Saw Guys and Dolls with Ewan Mcgregor (he's so dreamy) and I was like "GO OBI WAN", not really, I was forced there by my mom and my sister so....whatever, the play wasn't that bad besides the fact that they had NO FREAKING AIR CONDIDTION in the theatre, but wait, they put it in the lounge/bar???. Other than that, the older parts of London were kinda cool, there was a cool castle we went to and we found some old church remains in some crazy ally.

Ireland: Is extremely cool, sooooooo green. Guinness everynight and music every now and then. I took over 300 pictures, which I will post some later. Driving on the other side wouldn't have been so bad but my mom was driving and she freaks out about way to much stuff, roundabouts, as easily as they are set up, were massive amounts of panic for my mom. I would of drove but my mom would of freaked out about more stuff and would start yelling at me and I figured it would be better to have a better navigator, than a better driver. The COOLEST part on the whole trip is that we found this little castle in the middle of a forest, it was being overun by vines and cool stuff, and there were some trees growing on it on the inside. I took LOTS of pictures of it and made a little walkaround movie of it. Life there seem's soooo much more laid back, people didn't really get going or working till maybe around 8 or so, and the music and pub stuff didn't really happen untill around 9:30pm, no rush hour traffic, nobody hurrying off to get to some meaningless job.

Just a TIP: NEVER EVER TAKE 3 FLIGHTS IN ONE DAY!!!!!! it was Ireland to London, London to Chicago, Chicago to Denver.....ugh. Oh yeah a little note I took about different airports.

DIA: best airpost ever, clean, big, air conditioned and not scattered all over the place. Very kind and patient security peiople

London, Heathrow: Hot, Humid, Scattered all over the place (had to take a bus, and a train to another terminal) Smelled like a sweaty gym, hard to understand english guys talking through the intercom system. Also kind securtiy people.

Ireland, Shannon: small, simple, and got off using stairs, to a very nice temperature, (oh yeah, no rain the entire time there untill the morning we left) More kind securtiy people.

Chicago: A little scattered, unpredictable gates to flights, and the LOVELY welcome back to the USA, which more or less was like "Welcome to the US, Fuck you, Why are you here, Give us your passports and get the fuck outta here" oh yeah and it was full of asshole TSA people, and some guy actually said "This is America!!" to some poor french lady.

Isn't world travel great? Haven't been to London yet, but I'd put Egyptian cabbies and Naples civilians up against them for worst/most maniacal drivers title.

Italy and Greece are way more laid back also. They're ecomonies may not be as good, but what the hell does it matter when you can relax and enjoy what you have? I guess I'm not enough of a materialist to really be American - happy 4th!

That castle in the woods sounds really cool.
