modded injectors. who thinks these will work?

heres the deal. i have 2 modded red top legacy na injectors but i only want to send one off to rc engineering.

so should i send off injector number 1 which has the tip stright ground off so that the plunger is visible. the spray pattern may be messed on this because the tip isnt flat anymore and its kinda grooved from the grinding stone.

next is injector 2.

this injector was modded using a engraving bit to grind the weld that holds the screen that has 4 holes in it that regulates the fuel flow. when the screen didnt come off after the weld was ground down i just grond the screen down with the engraving bit./

It's hard to tell, but it looks like you may have gone too far with both injectors... You can get the screen to come off by just grinding at the weld.

If you had to send one of these off for testing, it'd be the second. But I think you should try again.

the thing is the screen wouldnt come off with the weld grinded off. i tried everythign i could but i just gave up and took the whole thing off

Personally, I would just get nissan injectors. 440 and 550 injectors sell for $100 all the time on Ebay. Just use the 92-94 rails..

I seem to remember someone saying that new STi injectors worked in '92-'94 n/a rails.

If so, I found this set going for cheap with no reserve.

I managed to get the screens off using a Dremel and a 0.025"-thick cutoff wheel.

Back when it was the big rave to supersize stock WRX injectors I hooked up a set and did some high speed photography of the spray pattern.

That little cover with the nozzles is on there for a reason. If you do remove it they will still work but your pattern will be severely compromised. From a manufacturing standpoint the size of the little holes in it determines the injector flow. So if you could drill them larger then you would have the best of both worlds.

There are several 350+whp WRX's floating in my area running modded stock injectors without much issue. I believe Phils WRX when he worked for TurboXS was running modded stock injectors and made 498whp.

Not OEM reliable, but not deemed unsafe methinks.

I carefully did the Dremel cut on 4 Legacy NA injectors, wet-sanded & polished the tips then sent them off to RC. They came back with exellent flow pattern flowing ~ 615 cc, not sure I'd have to check the paperwork. Basically, it worked for me.

I'll have to look it up but I know a injector shop in WA that will cost half what RC does if not less. My brother got his RX7 injectors done there so I'll get the info from him.

I've seen plenty of stock injectors without the cap so I don't think it will be so bad for spray pattern.
