Silverstars
Tristan swears up and down that the Silverstar Headlamps suck. I swapped them for my Halogens and they're A LOT better then my Halogens. What's the local opinion on the Silverstar bulbs?

You replaced your stock 14-year-old bulbs with Silverstars?
Of course you'd see an improvement. The output of all bulbs degrades with age, so any new street-legal bulb would have shown an improvement.
But, you'd see much more of an improvement if you had used good bulbs instead of Silverstars.
For some technical information -- facts, not opinions -- on Silverstars, search for "silverstar*" with "vrg3" as the author.

I read your post. And while I do agree with the wavelength explanation; I feel that the benefits of driving at night outweigh the disadvantages to driving with them during rain.vrg3 wrote:You replaced your stock 14-year-old bulbs with Silverstars?

And no, I didn't replace my stock bulbs, I replaced a set of Halogens. The $36 Silverstars are A LOT better then the Halogens I have.
And also, all of you seem to think that silverstars are blue. They're not. They're WHITE. My headlights are white, not blue or blue tinted. I tried that before, they suck.

This dead horse is beaten. If you look in the reviews forum, you will find my posts where I did a scientific, side-by-side, pepsi taste test with one Silverstar and one regular old bulb pointed at a wall, and there was no brightness difference, only color difference.

Well, I like my color difference then. It sets my Legacy apart from the like 3 other Legacies that live around here.rallysam wrote:This dead horse is beaten. They don't suck out loud, but they aren't the best.
If you want an upgrade to the brightness of your headlights, try re-wiring them with relays. It has been proven that you get more light when you do that.
