Moving to the LA vicinity

Post by scottzg »

I took a internship/job thingie outside of redlands, california. I'll have an apartment down there for about 8 months. I'm going to be in the field for 8 days, and then back in town for 4, so don't expect the regular post whoring from me. Pay is pretty good, they cover my expenses, and somehow i end up being closer to finishing school (im on the graduate-in-time-for-retirement-plan) than if i went for the 6 units i can afford out of pocket.

Most of the work will involve researching off road vehicle use in the mojave desert. I'll also be removing water tanks that were set up for wildlife that now need to be removed since the land is now declared Wilderness, and manmade structures aren't supposed to be on Wilderness land. The law is a funny thing.

I'm pretty psyched about the whole deal, but i can't help but wonder if im just further delaying life. I'm not going to school this semester since i forgot to get my loan  so i found this opportunity so i wouldn't end up working full time at Officemax (which sucks).

But enough about me, how are You doing?

Hey, here's a great site about all the fun things in the Inland Empire.

Plus you can come and hang out in south central whenever you want.

That sounds like a pretty cool deal there Scott. I think you made a good call getting the internship instead of just working full time and you'll get to be out in the wilderness/desert so that's cool too (I wish they'd designate more national forest as wilderness). Best of luck with it all and we want to see some pics of these off-roaders.

Look at your post count. You're nowhere near being a post whore ;)

Sounds cool though, I wouldn't have a problem flying around the desert in an offroad vehicle 8)

Thanks for all the support!

jamal- that site is hilarious. Sounds like i prolly shouldn't carry small change around. And yeah, i hope to get out and hang a bit, seein as i don't know where the interesting roads are.

Skid- the focus of my work won't be the offroaders themselves, but the damage caused and what road repair work is most effective. We actually have quite a lot of designated Wilderness out in CA, something like double the % of land to the next closest state. I wish they'd declare more in Utah, where there isn't a foot of wilderness.

Suby- Yeah, but lately ive been keeping up with tristan...

tris- i wasn't so bright until i ate all those glow sticks.
