Cruise control installation from junkyard car

Post by schspeedster »

My '93 AT AWD does not have cruise, but many sitting in the U-Pull-It junkyard do. What parts are needed from the donor car?

* dash switch
* steering wheel switch
* thingy on firewall
* thingy on right strut tower
* extra switch on brake pedal

Anything else? Hopefully the wiring harness is already there since this was a dealer-installed option. Does it matter if the donor is A/T or AWD?

I didn't know cruise was a dealer-installed option.

There isn't actually an extra switch on the brake pedal -- the switch on cruise-equipped cars has two sets of contacts.

You'd also need the cruise control computer and relay (the relay's mounted to the computer). These are behind the trim by the front passenger's right foot. These are different between autos and manuals, but I think you can make either one work with some wiring... I think there are more details in Legacy777's 5MT/AWD conversion writeup.

You'll need the cable that goes from "thingy on firewall" to the throttle body. You probably also need the throttle body, unless yours already has two cams on it.
