Do you know what your logo means?

This is for non-Subaru related topics. Keep it realistic please.

Do you know what your logo means?

Post by Manarius »

As you drive your Subaru around everyday, do you know what it actually stands for? Do you know the significance of the badge on your car?

If you do..well..smartass :P.

If you don't, I shall enlighten you.

Q. What do the six stars in the Subaru badge signify?

A. Fuji Heavy Industries which is made up of six separate companies, one of which is Subaru. The badge represents an open star cluster in the constellation of Taurus called the Pleiades, the Japanese translation for which is Subaru. The Pleiades is sometimes known as the Seven Sisters due to the number of stars which can on average be seen by the unaided naked eye, but it is actually made up of many hundreds of stars. Amongst astronomers it is used as a measure of seeing conditions and a test of eyesight on how many stars in the cluster can actually be seen unaided, and 11 is near the upper limit. Perhaps it is generally smoggy in Japan?

If you know your SVX's, you'll notice something in that picture :).

And if you're really smart, you'll know how to say it :P.

That's not all of it Sam.

The Alcyone line started in 1984 in Japan, the first offerings were the Alcyone VS and the Alcyone VR, and then in 1987 in Japan, they no longer had the Alcyone VR, but introduced a new model called the Alcyone VX.

The Alcyone VS in America was the XT 4cyl nonturbo, the Alcyone VR in America was the XT 4cyl turbo, and the Alcyone VX in America was the XT6. :D

Then they dropped all those models in favor of an entirely new Alcyone model: the Alcyone SVX

Who gets the cookie now?

I can't remember if it has something to do with two L's or a lightning bolt...
