WTF Mate?

Post by LaureltheQueen »

No passenger side firewall grommets? Is there a reason for this? My boost gauge is going to be mounted right under my radio, and it's a bit of a pita to run the line from the passenger side to the driver's side, to the middle of the car. Any easier way?

Tap your boost gauge into either the BOV's vacuum line or the brake booster's hose.

Isn't the check valve in the booster hose? I suppose it doesn't matter if you tap after the valve.

Oh yeah, the check valve...

The check valve is like halfway through the hose; you can feel it if you squeeze the hose. You'd want to tap between the manifold and the check valve. It should be easy enough -- get a 3/8"-to-3/8"-to-1/8" vacuum tee. I've seen a few Legacies with that done in order to drive an aftermarket cruise control actuator.

I used the hard line stuff wrapped in a vacuum line all through the engine bay, and had no huge problems with routing it. I'll likely continue to use it until I encounter a problem. The nice part is, It's skinny running through everything, and I'm not worried about it getting kinked as I would be with squishy vacuum line. And yes, I know if it gets kinked, it's more permanent than a kink with a soft vacuum line.
