gauge wiring help!!!!!

Post by ScRaPpY »

I have a 91 turbo legacy and I just got some gauges,
boost, egt, and a rich
lean gauge. I cant get them to work at all. I know
the problem is with the
wiring. I've been hooking everything up to my
stereo, the 12v power wire and
the illumination wire and everything is grounded. It
still won't work. I was
wondering if anyone knew the exact wires I need to tap
into. I need the power
wire, illumination wire and the oxygen sensor wire
for the rich lean
gauge. i have the stock stereo in the car. if going from my stereo is a bad idea could someone tell me how to tap into my ignition wire and my headlight. Any help will be appreciated. and picks would rock!

You could try tapping into the cigarette lighter out let for switched power. I would place your own ground and not tap into one. As for the O2 wire, Ask the wiring gurus here. If nothing works, check your grounds first.
Yes I have too many Subarus
No you can't have one

I tapped my ashtray lights and grounded it there. Now my gauges dim with the dash as i adjust the brightness.

Your problem might be because of running everything thru the stereo's wires, it just might not be able to put enough voltage thru all of those taps to power all of the devices.

You need to tap the 02 sensor wires, I did so when I lengthed the wires for the sensor to fit into my exhaust.

That I am not sure of. I still haven't installed my air/fuel gauge, just ran three leads off of the sensor's wires. Off hand, I cant remember which color does what.

Red wire on the O2 harness. Just so you know though, a a/f gauge running off a narrow-band sensor is nothing more than pretty lights. By the time you see the red, its too late.
