Accurate Engine Specs?

Post by BAC5.2 »

Hey guys,

I need the specs for the Phase 1 EJ25, the EJ22T, and the EJ257.

I need everything.

Bore, stroke, crank profile, head volume, and head gasket specs.

Matt Monson showed me one site, but it didn't seem very accurate. The specs they gave, didn't add up.

Do the FSM's have all of these specs?

Thanks!

Matt - can you verify that the site you gave me was correct?

The piston displacement, calculated by the figures they give, exceed their and Subaru's listed displacement for the Legacy. PD = 2270, Total Displacement = 2217 (or something like that).

I want to get all of the specs together so I can map things out for the machinist.

Jake - Was it the ravensblade site? He is moving it.

BAC,
There are some mistakes on the EjCalcs site. I don't remember what they are though. Why don't you post up the specific numbers you are working with, and we can check them for you.

Jake,
57cc comes from a guy on NASIOC, who measured them. I do believe the early WRX Ej20G's were 49cc, but the Legacy versions have more volume. If you look at a set of heads, it is visually obvious that they are much bigger...

I just thought of something... Maybe I could CC my head with a needle. 1/2 CC at a time (insulin siringes). That ought to be accurate. Off to the drugstore to buy some vasoline and a siringe :)

Laurel,
IIRC, when I ran the numbers for Ej22T block with Ej20G Legacy/Liberty heads it was like 6.7:1 or so...

Most people use motor oil to CC heads.

We CC'd the head from a 3.4L GM motor at school. We just used water, but it was pretty dead balls on.

Matt - I just need the internal specs of the three engines so I can see what I need to mix-and-match to get what I want.

And did you say the EJ22T block could go .05cm over before sleeving? How certain of that are you? How much will it weaken the block to go .05cm over?

I also need specific crank specs. I.E. Journal spacing and everything. They SHOULD be the same, but I'm not positive.

Why? More boost doesn't always mean more power.....

You could make similar power with 9:1 compression and 14psi.... AND you'd have better low end. The downside is you need to tune it very well or else.

No, it's to find out the volume of the heads. CC=Cubic Centimeters

When you measure the volume of a cylinder head, its referred to as "CC'ing the head"

wouldnt 30 psi on a 6.7:1 compression ratio take a long long time to spool up?
