Okay guys, I'll shut up praising the factory speakers now
I don't know why I noticed it last night and not before, but I didn't think I was hearing any sound coming out of my driver's speaker. So I moved the fade and balance all the way to that speaker, and... nothing. I had to turn it all the way up to hear something at all.
So now I have an excuse to do some speaker shopping. I know this has been asked a bazillion times, but what are the best speakers? I was thinking Kenwood or something, but I'm not sure where to look for them. I don't wanna half-ass this, I want some good speakers (no subs though ).

The infinity's I was telling you about is the largest 6.5" speaker you can fit in there. It steals some the of the edge of the basket and puts cone as far out as possible (read: more area = more bass). read up a little about them on their site www.infinityspeakers.com - check out the references, kappa are $$ but that much better. where ever you want to draw the line...
Yeah, Infinity component stuff is top dollar, though. You can get some good deals on new stuff on e-bay. Infinity Reference component stuff is not too bad, but Kappa component is their absolute top of the line stuff for the Infinity name brand.
Go with Kenwoods or something similar.. Most house brands, like best buy, (Dual) i found out, don't fit well.. our speakers/doors have a wierd triangle pattern that mount them on, which most have some kinda 5 star pattern instead..
Kenwood KFCs work well, and Infinities come really well recommended.. they rock, really, but yes, they are $crill..
I've got some high end pioneers. New off ebay they were 60$ a set- front and rear. Sound great. I'd say pioneer is the great value for good speakers. Kenwood is just about identical.
Look for a speaker with a high rms.

Look into Diamond Audio speakers. They're absolutely amazing. Crystal Clear sound, though they do require some amplification to sound their best. My deck is rated at like 50 watts per channel and in the higher volume low freqency sounds I get some distortion. I paid $190 for them with warranty, but that's at accomodation, they usually retail for $270/pair. Ask Art or Tristan, they've both heard what diamonds are capable of, and both have diamond components waiting to go into their cars
all 4 of my stock speakers are 6.5"

Art says the model is M651. I have no idea if they required spacers, I didn't install them(I don't tough anything electrical), they went to my installer friend(who also runs a full diamond stereo)
