9.6 AFR and richer...update, still need help

Post by DeusExMachina »

So I replaced my MAF with a spare MAF, not sure on its condition. I unplugged my o2 sensor. No change from either of these.

I have no active check engine light, but I have MAF, knock, and o2 sensor codes stored in memory and nothing comes up in D-check. The codes wont go away even when disconnecting the battery for hours. (before starting the car afterwards, I did the code check, and they were still there!)

But still...previously, I was hitting 14 psi of boost. Midway through the powerband and exceeding 11psi, that means 80 IDC. Previously, I was hitting 12s in AFR. Suddenly its 9.6??

So going off that...I replaced the plugs and made extra sure of the gap. (.040) I thought that under boost, the spark was being blown out in one cylinder and the unburnt fuel was being dumped. No change in my AFR. Car idles a bit nicer and pulls smoother..but still the dredded 9.6 shows up on my display.

I'm replacing the o2, the MAF, and the knock sensor (all most likely futile practices, with the way things are looking), and checking my AFR with a different wideband controller completely (before I had plugged a different sensor into my controller).

Anyone have any ideas or advice?

Very rich occured when cruising up a long steady hill. At partial throttle
between 2500 and 3000 rpm the miss firing was awesome and the colder
the weather the worse it got. WOT at higher revs worked OK

Tried everything you have including swapping the stock ecu.

As performance is the objective and impatience the motivator, installed an SDS ecu--which is very tunable.

The problem is gone :smt041

Do you think the stock fuel injectors and pressure regulator can achieve a 9.6:1 air/fuel ratio under these conditions?

Not while running 13 psi they can't.

But besides that...problem fixed...don't buy a Zeitronix wideband. The controller was fucked. Does that make any sense? A controller shouldn't go bad.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was getting at... 'cept I thought it would be the sensor itself.

That is really odd that the controller would quit but the sensor was fine. Maybe you should ask Zeitronix to fix it.
