I bought a set of dissassembled 2.5 DOHC heads a while back that are complete except for Cam Caps for some reason.
Anyway I have heard it is essential that these are matched to the head.
What would it entail to get a new set and have them matched to the heads or is it even possible?

The matched to the head part relates to it's placement within the head. They have little marks on them that designate orientation and location. They are something like" I3" for the 3rd cylinder intake journal and an arrow towards the cam gears...

They're matched to the individual head when they're made. They use a tool to do a certain number of heads/caps, and another to do another certain number of heads/caps. The different tools have different variances. Like a set of "FK" caps should only be used on "FK" heads. And a set of "QO" caps should only be used on "QO" heads. But you shouldn't use "FK" caps with "QO" heads, or "QO" caps with "FK" heads. The markings I just made up, but you get the point.

You will find the letters along the surface where the head meets the valve covers near the front. It is a pretty light stamp or etch so you will have to look kind of hard for it. letters are different for each head and will not be the same for the pair.

Cool thanks for the info.

I got it. I was taking you literally.
Legacymax - I will take a look and see if I can find the marking on the heads and see what they say. Are you talking about orientation markings or are they to classify what tool made the caps that go with those heads?
