CE light code, semi-n00b question

Post by Turbo Tony »

Apologies in advance if this is out of place, or out of line. I've been snooping around since picking up my 99 Legacy Outback wagon this summer and now have a reason to post. Anyway, I had a CE light for a couple hours tonight in the Suba. The light went out (after filling the gas tank funny enough) so I pulled the stored code with an OBDII logger (I'm an old school DSMer, thus, used to problems). Here's the code:

PO 325 Knock Sensor 1 Circuit (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)

I copied that verbatim from the logger screen. If anyone here has a base of knowledge re: CE lights, and could let me know if this is other than what it so obviously appears to be (bad knock sensor). Also, let me know if this is a simple job for the enthusiast with appropriate tools, or something much more exquisitely painful.

Thanks guys (and girls?)

Tony

Its not enjoyable, but not all together difficult.

There is only one and its located on the top of the block between the throtttlebody and the EGR stuff on the #4 intake runner. One bolt holds it on. Its donut shaped with a single wire.

Replace it.

Hope that helps.

I'd recommend resetting the ECU, and see if the code comes back. If it comes back, then replace it.
