CLARION VS PANASONIC
Does anybody know why there were two different manufactures or is one or the other a subsidiary. When i pulled out my Clarion Deck to install a Panasonic one,i noticed that the antenna line in is different anyways, thanks.
What are you talking about? Subaru uses the standard antenna style plug. And all aftermarket radios use this same standard plug. Please explain

The difference you're probably talking about is that the clarion deck has an antenna pig tail that runs out the head unit for about a foot before it disconnects with the lead from the antenna. Most just plug directly into the head unit.

Oh, I see what your saying now. I read your post 5 times and it wasn't making much sense to me. But yeah, car manufacturers dont nessicarily stick with one particular brand when they do stuff. It all comes down to who could make the cheapest radio with all that they required.

price is a big issue....plus you have to look at supply and demand. You may not want to put all your eggs in one basket. If you sole source from one company for the radios, and they can't deliver the output you need, your output is being held up on them, and costing you money.
The radio company is getting squeezed by the manufacturer for more units, the radio company has to work more overtime, etc etc. If you have two sources for radios and you can use all the incoming radios as fast as you get them from both companies it's a win-win situation. You are getting what you want, and the radio companies are not being taxed beyond their capabilities.
