What to do from here

Post by magicmike »

I might be able to get a 2002 wrx wagon with a blown head gasket and bad clutch and 4th gear syncro problems for cheap, but the body and int. is good.

The WRX will be way more expensive no matter what. Even if you got it free, you will pay more for insurance.

The WRX will be more expensive and that's a fair bit of work for a winter beater. I say just replace the tranny and avoid the engine swap and all. That's what I would do atleast.

ok well I am just going to replace the 4eat and pass on the wrx. I spoke with my sister last night and turns out her lease on her 2003 audi a6 is up in march so I think I'm going to buy that and sell my ifiniti and maybe just keep the t-leg for fun.

oh simmer down... the thing has 20k miles on it. its brand new. my brother and law has a company car so they put the miles on that. Trust me an audi is not my first choice but I cant pass this up for the deal I'll be getting. even if I keep it for a year anmd trade it in I wont lose any money.

My friend's boss has an old Audi 90 Cabrio with 42k miles on it. They've replaced everything from the transmission to the entire front of the engine.

Don't forget, behind all 4 rings on an Audi symbol, there is a V on top of a W, they're just hiding really well...

Man...Audi's are great cars!!

I will admit the 80's and early 90's ones had lots of problems, but you will absolutely love a 2003 A6...it's one hell of a car...with a level of refinement that is far greater than any Japanese car.

However, refined cars bore me...so I drive a rattly, fast 1992 SS :-D

I have to agree. I mean come on, people have their gripes with different auto manufactures but there are plenty of other cars that I would bash well before I ever got to audi. for example, my dads e320 has had more problems than I think any audi could ever have. but I can see how one bad example no matter how old can tarnish ones view for life. for example, I worked on a few saab 900's when I was an installer. I cursed those fucking cars from the minute they pulled into the shop until the minute they left. I still hate those fucking things and would never in my lifetime buy a saab. In fact, I'm pretty sure that my saab intercooler has in some strange way contributed to my transmission failing :P

I had an early 80's Vdub back in the day and that thing was a complete piece of shat!!

It was in the shop more than it was on the road. It was grandmas (not mine) car and had low miles. You would think it would be a good car. I gues it would have been if it wasn't a VW.

well audi bashing aside, I found another ss that I'm buying on saturday. its pretty cheap and the body is mint. The only catch is that its in new jersey. about a 4 hour drive from here. I would be interested in a carfax if anyone could hook me up :) the vin is JF1BJ6739RH900246. it has about 155k miles but they claim that the 4eat and the awd are excellent. I plan to take my jack stands out there and check it out.
