Bad Fuel Pump or...?

Went out to warm up my car after work and it started right up. Then when I came back out it had shut off and would'nt resart. It has spark and the engine turns over just fine.

Looking in other threads I found that it could be the coolant temp sensor. I don't think this would be it since it started the first time. Anyway what is the part # we need for the Walbro fuel pump? And how much price difference is there btween that and a stock replacement? Thanks

The Walbro can be bought at a lower price than OEM and it will flow a lot more.

That's in Canadian funds and the price relation in US would be similar.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm gonna get the walbro because it is cheaper and higher flow also.

That's what broken coolant temp sensors do. When the car's cold, it works and when it's warm it won't start.

I'm pretty sure it's the pump. I took the cover off and could'nt even hear it kick on. And it only ran for like a minute at most. Not enough time for it to warm up.

Bleed the pressure off the fuel system and then turn the key almost all the way on (you know, all lights but don't start). If the fuel pump is dead, you will not hear it, ie no fuel pressure. Wait about 30 seconds.

Turn key off and check fuel line again for fuel pressure to double check that even though you may not have heard the fuel pump, that it is actually not working.

Looking at all the walbro pumps it looks like they need to be wired differently. My question is who has installed one on an SS and did you have to wire it in or was it plug and play? What part#'s fit and or what cars were they made for? Thanks

Search for the part #'s, it's been covered.

With the pump and install kit, it's a plug and play setup. It's harder removing the pump assembly from the tank that it is installing the walbro

Yeah I did search and got the numbers, but some chose the GSS341(which is what I think I'm getting) and the GSS342 which is meant for the WRX.
