USDM STi MAF compatible?

Post by gills »

Hey all,

just wondering if it is possible to swap in the USDM STi MAF into the EJ22t. I have some spare stock 04 STi parts off of my own car and was thinking about using them.

STi injectors, VF39, fuel pump. I doubt it but was hoping to basically just make a legacy run with STi parts without having to worry about tuning issues. But i have a good feeling it's not that easy:) Is it ever?lol.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

You'd have to retune for the new maf sensor....

but the USDM STi MAF does work with the legacy ECU?

I'm more or less looking to create the parameters of what the stock USDM STi creates. VF39 14-15psi boost, STi injectors, STi MAF, fuel pump, STi TMIC , and source out fuel rails from a 92-94 N/A to mount the injectors. And from all this hopefully anywhere from 270-300 HP and the crank.

Let me know if i'm on anything and what more i need. I was thinking using e-manage as EM but is there anything more like UTEC? Just discuss engine, don't worry about drivetrain, exhaust components, brakes or suspension: )

Thanks,
Tom

Tom,

You can't use the stock legacy ECU and expect to run all that stuff how it runs on the STi. It just won't work.

The sensors may be able to handle the parameters that the STi puts out, ie air flow, fuel flow, etc. But the ECU has the maps and stuff to identify what a particular voltage means and what to do with it.

Your legacy ECU has it's own set of parameters and different sensors. So if you swap in STi stuff, you can't expect your legacy ECU work properly.

I understand that. I've already been researching the PP EM and it seems to run very similarly to UTEC which i have on my STi with what i'm somewhat familiar.

What i'm trying to get at here is if it's possible to use the USDM STi MAF in place of the stock legacy one or are they different kinds of sensors?

Yes, you should be able to use the STi Maf in place of the stock legacy maf sensor.

Like I said before, you have to have some sort of EM in place to re map it though.
