Post by The Scooby »

hey i was wondering if it was posible to clear out the amber side marker lights on the 92-94 legacy on the fender in that molding, i took off the amber lense and i would like to make it clear and put in amber bulbs, only because i have a white car and i want it to match my cleared taillights. and frotn turn signals.

aren't the headlights clear to begin with, and the turn signals clear as well?

IIRC, dscoobydoo has used the "lens" that they put over cheap office lights and it worked rather well. I think he's still got a few left.

I think he means the light towards the door...

I have no idea if that is clear-able...I can tell you that no one makes a lens for it, and I am pretty sure that the lens on our cars is actually amber instead of an amber insert. I would way if you wanted to really get rid of it, just take the bulbs out and paint it black...match the trim.

of course it does...

the light shines easier through the clear lens, freeing up electrical power, using less draw on the serpentine belt because the alternator is drawing less power, giving you .000000000000001 HP

;-)

Actually, its a lie, axe the 1

I don't think anyone is trying to give you flack. We're just jesting. Someone clearly liked the idea enough to spend the time making a few sets. I think they look much better than the stock ones. :)

The answer to your question is that it's not reasonably possible to clear them out while retaining the correct light pattern (since you can't design optical lenses in your basement), but if you don't care about keeping them fully functional you can do what dscoobydoo did and hack some "lenses" up out of some kind of textured plastic. You lose safety, but gain... uh... lights that Laurel thinks look better, I guess.

Just go to your local parts store and pick up some APC's. Glue them to the side of your car and put the big APC sticker arcoss your windsheild.

Problem solved!

since most subarus don't have sidemarkers, I doubt its really a big deal that dscoobydoo doesn't have as much light refracting from his lens as before, its still visible....
