Single DIN and 1.5 DIN pockets exist!

Post by ciper »

Eastbaysubaru and I went to a junk yard near us and the 90 champagne colored FWD legacy sedan had a 1.5 din pocket! Other weird items too like rear seats that DIDNT fold down.

So this just confirms that 1.5 din pockets to fit your aftermarket stereos exist. Problem,,, NO FU(KING part numbers! We both looked all over the thing.

Yeah, I forgot to bring it up. I NEED this 1.5 DIN pocket. It even had the flip down lid as opposed to the ones that are just open pockets. If anyone has the part number for this piece I would really appreciate it if you'd post it. Right now I've just got a stupid little plastic piece in place of the extra half DIN that's leftover. Anyone?

Excuse me for not being up-to-the-minute on your terminology, but are you talking about the compartment below the stereo? Because I'm looking for a bigger one to fill in the gap I have from my smaller CD head unit...

I would guess the L model is the one!!

The L is the lower model so it has the crappy (relative) single din radio. I wonder why the parts had no part numbers?

subyluvr2212: You got it, I personally dont need it since I have the double din wrx radio.

But you could get the L with the 80W stereo which was 1.5 DIN. That's what mine is!

So the pocket and door are two seperate part numbers? That's kinda wierd. Does anyone actually have the unit in their car? I only ask because I want to make sure I order the correct one. It seems by the part numbers that there are two different pockets and only one door. That is also strange as I would assume a 1.5 DIN door wouldn't fit on a single DIN pocket :D Therefore I'm wondering what the difference is between the two pockets. Anyone?

The one you want is #66130AA050. It's $36.77 at subarugenuineparts.com and comes with the door. I have one in my car I ordered from them. I suspect that the reason it costs more than the single DIN pocket is because the single DIN is much more common so they made a ton of them (higher production=lower cost), that's just a guess though.
