Turbo Oil feed/return

The part that bolts onto the head for the turbo oil feed and return on an EJ22T, will that bolt right onto an NA head? the NA head has a plate over where this thing would go. I'm wondering if the heads themselves are the same.

If it does, does anyone have one of these oilers they want to sell?

I dont think it will work. FYI that plate is the oil feed and the coolant feed. The oil returns to the bottom of the head and the coolant returns to the header tank.
I have one of those plates though, if you find out it might work.

I've wondered that myself. I don't know if it'll just bolt up, or if machining is needed.

I can tell you that machining is definitely required to fit the oil return in the n/a head.

couldnt you just tap a hole for a hose barb into the valve cover for the return?

Drilling and tapping is machining. :)

But actually I don't think drilling and tapping for a barb fitting is the way to go, unless there's enough material that you can do it diagonally. You want the drain oil to flow smoothly and easily without having to go through any bends.

right now I have my oil feed coming from a T off the oil pressure switch and my return is a pipe I welded into the oil pan. The return is a little messed up though as I didn't relize that I would have such a clearance issue with the power steering lines. It kinda pushes on them pretty hard. I don't really have to worry about it breaking as my engine mounts are solid. I'm fitting a new turbo soon though, so I thought I could clean it up a bit if I used the factory part and maybe avoid any issues caused my my tight drain clearance.

I was actually thinking to tap into the top of the valve cover. there is so much oil pressure I dont think it would be an issue either way, but hell what do I know. as long as you have no kinks in the line and keep the run short as possible. I guess drilling and tapping is technically machining, but its something anyone with a drill, tap and die set and a steady hand can do at home. I consider machining to be where you have to take it to a machine shof or very tight tolerances are needed. plus it seems like sammy has the skills to do this mod given his fabrication ability. kinda irrelevant anyway, seeing as how he's got the return in the oil pan.
sorry to highjack but how bad are the NVH effects with those solid mounts sammy? and how did you make them?

The oil coming out of the turbo's bearings is not at high pressure.

The NA heads actually have the boss for the oil return cast into them. It really would be as simple as taking the head to a machine shop and having them drill out and tap the hole to the specification of the bango bolt for the oil return. Shouldn't cost you more than $25 to have it done. And the coolant return outfitted cam cap will easily replace the one that is on there now. I have one if you are interested in buying it...

The stock cap doesn't cover any coolant lines.....something on the N/A block has to be tapped for it. Unfortunately I sent the heads off to be redone so I don't have any pictures with that plate off and how everything is setup.

I won't need coolant lines, so if I could just tap oil from there it would be cool. Is there some type of pressure regulator in the part from the EJ22T head? Looks like there might be by the shape of it.

I'll try and rember to look at the borked set that I have on the floor. I don't remember there being a check ball in there, but I might have missed it...
