Good deal on an 2004 Audi A6

Post by magicmike »

My sister's lease is up, they use her husbands car for everything so this car has been garaged every day of its life. it has 20k miles!!!! I have the oportunity to pick it up for the lease buy off (21k) I did some searching and havent seen one for less than 30k. I'm not really wanting it but I dont think I can pass it up, even if I just keep it for a few months and trade it in for my dream M3 I've been wanting....

you won't be dissappointed by the Audi, my dad has one, and when my previous subie felt under the weather(we've all been there!) I used to get to borrow his 99 A4 Quattro, and that thing was the champ, those German suspensions kick so much ass!

if I get it I will be upgrading the wheels to 17's or 18's for sure. it has 16" wheels stock. I can get the RS4 look a likes for $150 each new. I dont like how its black paint on beige interior. I would prefer silver paint on gray but oh well, still beats my infiniti which is for sale if anyone near RI is interested.

Yeah, they're pretty good. My uncle has an A6 since 96 or something. He keeps upgrading and getting the newer one.

They've been pretty good.

Audi makes a nice car and the A6 is a nice ride. I'd also put Audi's AWD systems up against Subaru's, though we all now who'd win and why :). I'd say go for it and if you don't like it, trade it.

A6 what? I dunno if I'd want just a 2.8 or the 3.0 they are now, not enough motor to haul that much car around.

I think I'd want the old 2.7TT with a 6-speed.

I really just want boost though...

I'm pretty sure its the 3 litre. 250hp is not too shabby...

Actually the new n/a motor woops all over the 2.7T. As I said, my uncle's had pretty much every evolution of the A6 since 96. The 2.7T was alright. It however lacked the quick thrust of power that the subaru turbo's have. My car feels faster in the lower gears.

The new A6 with the 3.2 liter direct injection motor is supposedly better then the 2.7T....or so my uncle says. I haven't gotten to drive it. He got it the day I left to come home from the holidays.

250hp is for the bi-turbo motor. The 3.0 is only 220.

overall they are nice cars. really nice fit and finnish. I'm not to keen on the ergonomics of the car or the way it drives. add to that the fact that they are WAY overpriced and the equation just doesn't really make sence.

The V8 version is pretty nice (almost a totaly different car) There's a chance you might find me behind the wheel of one of those one day. Only if the price is right though.

well an update here....I dont have the cash for it so i'm going to check on a home equity line for "home repairs" lol then I just need to do all new rotors and pads in the infiniti and get it detailed and put it up for sale. looks like I'll be back up to 4 cars again for a short while....

Thanks for all the input and yes "only 220" ??? lol

in a 3900lb yeah, only 220

if I'm gonna drop $45k+ on a set of wheels it better go up hills faster than as a civic does.

I'll take a Legacy GT for half the price over that any day. The extra refinement (mostly interior) of the A6 simply isn't worth nearly double the price, at least not to me. Thats only one example, but this is a Legacy board :)

My best friend is a total Audi nut (owns a few dozen of them including an RS6 Avant) we both concur that though Audi makes a damn nice car, they are falling terribly behind in the value game. Their prices keep going up and the cars are no better than they were ten years ago.
