Seats -- how cheap is to cheap?

Post by sammydafish »

so I need a little bolster in my seats ... though my seats are in good condition, they are standard L Legacy seats and have no bolster at all. So I'm looking for some seats, and I come across this ebay auction

now... $200 shipped, for 2 seats that are new. I imagine they arn't the best, or even close to it, but if they provide some side bolster and are decently comfortable, do you think it's worth it? My leggy is blue too so it would kinda match (though I don't really care that much if it does or not) The big concern is that they would hold up in a crash (as that's a highly likly possablity the way I run this thing sometimes)

opinions, experiance?

Unless you have a pretty small frame, I'd be a little wary of buying knockoff seats. But maybe that's just me, since I have a big frame.

Have you considered trying the BAC Bolster Mod? It makes a very noticeable difference.

saw the BAC Bolster Mod. Looks like he just built up the bolsters in his seats. Mine have no bolsters at all (standard L legacy seats) If I were to add bolsters I'd have to make new covers and all that jazz. I'd rather get something that just bolts in. I was looking for some used late model impreza seats or something along those lines.

It's been a long time since I've owned an L, but I was pretty sure they had bolsters... Are you sure yours just aren't completely worn out?

wrx seats are a bolt in, pretty comfy and good looking in my opinion. they end up a little higher than stock but hey that just gives you a better view. unless you are pretty tall.
I would be wary of seats like that off of ebay, there are some really low quality products on there.

The BAC Bolster Mod will work for you! Everyone who sat in my seat said they could notice a significant difference.

They ended up actually gripping me better than my RS seats do now. I'd mod those if I was going to keep them in the car for much longer.

I'm sure you need a bracket and slider with that seat. So tack on another ~$100 to 150 per seat.

Oh, and they are obvious fakes, so your Subaru friends might make fun of you...

imo, they look terrible, and overly soft.

Get a set of rs or wrx seats that don't require rails. I thik art paid $250 for my wrx seats years ago

BAC, if the seats don't have bolsters, how does the seat cover material still fit? I don't think it will stretch that much. The seats in your thread already have bolsters. I assume they're SS seats?

I started looking for OEM seats but the ones I found are going for $500+ I'd rather have those, but this is a cheap project, the real money is reserved for the Toyota :)

Every Subaru I've ever owned has had SOME form of bolster, and my mod will work for those seats.

Are you sure your's just aren't totally worn flat?
