Traditional vs. Non-Traditional Sports

Post by J-MoNeY »

I may be weird, but I really don't like watching Football, Baseball, Basketball, Golf, etc... on T.V. for some reason. I really like watching UFC fighting, X-Games, Skiing, Snowboarding, Rally, and Vollyball.

I was just curious to know how many of you all prefer the more traditional route, or are you bitchen' enough to enjoy the more obscure sports. .

I'd rather be playing/doing sports than watching them. I've been getting slightly more into watching football lately tho.

I love watching all the freestyle sports, Rally, UFC's fun too. New School sports definatly.

BTW, What the hell is this Ice Dancing BS on the Olympics. Who the hell really wants to watch that crap? Why is that considered a sport? Really. It makes me want to stab jaws and punch babies. If I was Chuck Norris I would roundhouse kick everyone responsible in the face.

I actually like the ice skating, but maybe thats just because I'm the older consertive type that goes to church on Sundays.

I go to church on Sundays... but that is not a sport. I have to admit, I find myself watching it and wonder why I am. And then I have to change it.

Maybe it comes with age, but I wouldn't care if I never saw it again.

Now that I think of it, most of the sports in the Olympics are a bit wierd. Like curling?!

nontraditional: I ride bikes. BMX, DH and regular mtb riding. I race DH in NORBA expert and collegiate mens A.
snowboarding for 12 years; powder, trees, cliffs, steep shit.

traditional: soccer, rugby, football and basketball are faves to watch and play. I live with a bunch of jocks so I get to play pickup games a lot.

motorsports: anything that goes fast and smells like gas is good in my book, but rally of course is the BEST

I guess I like sports, period. doesnt matter what kind though if I had to choose it would be bikes.

I would rather watch the more modern stuff too.

I do watch some football but besides that I only watch the other traditional sports as they get into the playoffs.

I'm a HUGE UFC, ECF and PFC fan. MMA is where it's at.

My favorite channel is Fuel TV. A 24 hr network devoted souly to alternative sports, oh yeah baby! Skating, BMX, Surfing, Snowboarding, Skiing, MT biking, ect.. Awesome channel.

I do have a dirty little secret......I've been watching Curling. Don't look at me! I'm so ashamed.

Have you tried curling? Kinda fun if you ask me. I never played an actual game of it, but I played around with it with a co-worker before we messed around with the cameras mounted above the rings.

That sport is a blast to watch. Me and a couple friends actually went to the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs to ask about how we could get into it. Guess that never played out. .

Yeah, that's why I like to watch it. I like the strategy involved and the more things to do in winter the better.

It'd make a wicked drinking game.

I'd like to think that the subliminible messages coming thru the TEE-vee are getting stronger. I've NEVER liked to watch sports, ever.
But what did I not only watch, but get interested in, AND care about the outcome?
The SuperBowl. :/

I like gravity sports

DH skiing, white water paddling, mountain biking and track time.

All involve left and right turns at close to the limits of whatever. :D

Any MMA event is one I'll make time to watch, I'd love to go to one of those fights live someday. UFC is the most-followed, as Spike TV now carries it.

Although most events covered on the Speed channel are cool, my favorite is the rally events. I'd love to get into rally someday...

I only ever watch football when I'm with others that are fans, thats the only time its fun. So usually, I only catch the Superbowl.

But I must say, given the choice of one or the other, I'd go to the Superbowl of Motorsports (monster trucks and dirt bikes rule)
