I got a red top and had the same problem with my impreza. I t just so happens that there is a seam at the bottom of the front fender just behind the battery. I just shoved the rear tie down into it and tightened everything up. THe front tie down is at a little angle but it has held up fine to my late night impersonations of mister Solberg
