best way to relieve fuel pressure?

I unplugged the pump connector and started the engine and just let it die but its still flowing from the hoses (the ones under the lid in the trunk) is this just a fact of life?
I'm trying to inspect the tank and see if I have any debris in there from my filler tube rusting through.

I think you are confused. the fuel tank isn't under pressure just the lines are.

He's talking about the actual fuel lines at the pump itself methinks. I just yanked the lines off without worrying about it. I'm still alive.

A bit leaked out after I did that when installing my walbro, but not alot or under high pressure....
