Hi everyone, This group is great, I recently got a 92 legacy awd turbo for $250 from a dealer who just needed to get it off the lot, he needed the space. The car is awsome, but has one flaw. When I put on the cruise control, it increases in speed at about 5 kmph or 2.5miles an hour per kilometer traveled, before you know it, your really going fast. When I try and use the coast function, the car speeds up.
I'm not sure if this is related, but the speedo in the car also is not smooth, it jerks and when at a set position, ie. 3000rpm it bounces around. Could this be the prob??
I've replaced the switch at the steering wheel but has not helped.
Please help, I comute 1.5 hours a day, and the cruise is a nice feature to have at 5am.
Thanks in advance
Snowjob

speed sensor is in the back of the combination meter.

where your speedo, tach, gauges are is called the combination meter.
There is also a speed sensor in the transmission, but it's used to run the AWD system.

If one was to replace the speedo, could you take the odometer out from the existing car and keep it when you put the new combinaiton meter in? IE. the current car has 140000km on the odometer, the parts car has 346000. I'd prefer to keep the 140 000, is it possib? Also what about the cable that goes from the tranny to the guage, could it cause erratic or harsh shifting??
Thanks

I guess if the cable is not providing a smooth turning input to the speed sensor it could possible mess up shifting.....but you would probably see that on the gauge as well.
