Whats it take to put a turbo bumper on a NA Legacy?

Post by Redlined »

Could I just order a new bumper skin from Subaru and install it or are there braces etc i will need also (better off hunting boneyards)?

I hate the local Boneyards. they have a tendancy to quote you.. say $50 dollars for a bumper then you show up and pull the damn thing and they want 2-3 times that ammount. "ok you have a bumper skin, a bumper, two braces and mounting bars. thats $150"

Also noticed after examaning various pictures on the board.

The NA legacy has its turn signals under the bumper. the Turbo models dont... and dont appear to have a place for them. Where are the turn signals (first guess would be "wired to the headlight ends").

Also some turbo Bumpers have round Foglight recesses. others are more oval. almost rectangular. It APPEARS the ovoid foglight recesses are on older (91-92) legacys and the round ones on newer ones. Is this correct? ( I like the ovoid ones)

On the TLegs of 91, the signals are in the bumper. They are clear in nature. On the 92-94, those round holes are for foglights.

Like Manarius says, it's not a turbo vs. NA question.

Pre-facelifts (turbos and non-turbos alike) have turn signals in the bumper. Post-facelifts (turbos and non-turbos alike) have turn signals in the corner lamps.

Pre-facelift turbo turn signals are different from pre-facelift non-turbo turn signals, though, so you'd need turn signals to match the bumper if you swapped to a 91 turbo bumper.

If you want to swap to a 92-94 turbo bumper, you also have to swap stuff like the hood, fenders, headlights, and corner lights.

well im definatly not inerested i n replacing the whole nose clip (at least not at this point).

So If I go with a 91 turbo bumper all I realy need to worry about is getting the turnsignal pods with it/to mach it. What about Braces and such. are they the same? ((starting to sound like a boneyard job so I need to know wich pieces to make sure and grab))

Also so i can place a face to the terminology. THIS

is a pre facelift and THIS

is a postface lift. is that correct?

Yes, you correctly identified the models.

Stuff behind the bumper cover is different between turbos and non-turbos. Look at the first page of the 3rd-party parts sheets in the Library. I don't know if they're interchangeable or not.
