Courtesy Light (Step Light) Location, HELP please

Post by 123c »

I am trying to figure out the location of the Courtesy Lights for my 1993 Legacy Sport Sedan. I figured out the proper bulbs that it is supposed to take, I just can't figure out the location...

I've basically laid on my back in the footwells and looked under the dash with a flashlight, and I just can't see anything. I know they have got to be somewhere, since the owners manual lists them. I know that the courtesy light can sometimes be the hardest ones to locate, unless the specific location for them is known. Maybe tomorrow I will try and look for them again, or maybe go to the "dealership" and ask them if they know.

they'll probably be easier to find in the dark. What side are you looking for?

Thanks, it helps alot. So I am guessing that the passenger side is located in the same area.

The glove box light also doesn't work, I think it has a bad switch, or something else causing the problem, but I don't really want to mess with trying to get it to work at this time... there could also be a connection between the foot well lights and the glove box light not working...

When I went to the dealership today, the guy there told me that I didn't have them...

Is there domelight that should also be coming on when you open the door? If there is and it's out too I'd certainly look more at the door pin before going around to all the bulbs. ;)

The domelight works, so it might have burned out, and about the same time the other lights burned out and the previous owner forgot to replace them...

Ahhh. . . good. That rules out the door pin, then. 8)

I'll look some more for the light, my maglight is a bit bright, and not friendly to the tail end of a migraine.

It looks like my car doesn't have the footwell lights??? I looked near the fuse box, and didn't see anything that looked like that light. I might check again sometime, but I just can't lay under the dash anymore today...

Nope, I have an L.....

Its inside a little plastic boxy shaped thing. I'll try another picture in the light. I spent 15 minutes under the passenger side of my dash, and got a leaf stuck in my hair today trying to find the courtesy light on it.... Frustrating....

Ok, I will try and look again this afternoon when I get off from work. I saw a few boxy looking things that could be the light, so I will take a close look.

Cool . . . you've probably seen one of our friends with a nicely built-up Civic coupe. He autocrosses it, and recently turbocharged it. However, it's laid-up right now. . . Matt wants to swap the engine and turbo into a hatch I think.

Anyway. . . we'll have to all get together sometime. Wenatchee's not THAT far away.
