WRX motor mounts same as legacy?

Post by my3awds »

The passanger side motor mount is torn on the 2.2t motor i recieved and was just looking for a replacement. I could use the stock 1.8 impreza motor mounts i have, but they seem ALOT smaller then the 2.2t legacy mounts. Anyone know if the US WRX motor mounts are the same? I remember seeing a site that showed a picture of a jdm 96 impreza sti motor mount and it looked to be the same as the legacys.

They are all compatible. The legacy ones are so shatty because they were hydraulic and they pop. Even the Ej18 ones will be better than Legacy ones. But if you have a line on WRX ones, you are good to go...

Wow the ej18 mounts better then the legacy ej22t mounts? They look physically bigger, but if you think the ej18 mounts will work good, no need to waste money on WRX ones. I'll just switch the ej18 mounts over. Thanks :)

Not all EJ22T's used liquid mounts. My 94 had the solid mounts.

Replaced with Grp. N though.

Sidetracking the thread a little

Whats the big deal with mounts? What benefit do they give?

if you use the stiffer motor mounts nn combination w/a stiffer pitch stopper and stiffer transmission mounts the drivetrain will stay in one place and help put the power to the ground better, rather than wasting energy twisting things around.

the downside is an increase in NVH. that is why the OEM ones are so soft.

some race teams use solid metal mounts, however, they have to reinforce the chassis where they use those type of mounts.

my brother had a awd ej18 powered impreza. he replaced most of the bushings and used GN mounts for engine, tranny, and struts. he also used the whiteline ALK. that thing handled awesome in the dirt. there was a noticable difference in power delivery.
