This petition was going around sometime last year iirc. I hope it goes through soon. I took off my plate last summer and haven't even had an eye batted at me by the police as a result. Mostly because it's a fairly low profile car though, I'd imagine.

The front plate on my Fox is bent to the shape of my bumper. It happens when you try to drive over a lot of snowbanks. That might get me pulled over. But I think cops would be more concerned with the lack of any mufflers and the speedolessness though. It's quite loud.

Then help it go through. There are many things you can do. Yard signs, bumper stickers, handing out pamphlets, going door-to-door, talking to your friends and family all add up to something. But only if you vote. That's the key to everything. Sitting on your duff and saying "I wish, oh I wish" isn't very productive. Search for groups that support the bill and ask them how you can help. Even if you only spend an hour going door-to-door, getting 2 or 3 people to join you at the polls, your vote becomes tripled or quadrupled. And those you inform and convince just might tell people they know. Just be sure to arm yourself with lots of facts and talking points to help others see what's on your mind.

mm hm. its not a huge thing for me though. even if it saves those tax dollars, its still going to go to something else, could be even something even more retarded, such as those undercover cars that cost tens of thousands of dollars.

it would be nice to have a nationwide vote on spending for undercover police cars that cost so much. even those "all-show" cop cars that dont do anything at all besides make apperances. i dont know how much money that would free up, probably not too much, but hey, its another thing that our tax payer dollars probably go to...

I doubt that frees up any money, considering you pay for yoru plates and registration. But if it does, it's a step in the right direction.

Despite what you hear, 99% of the laws made have some sort of purpose that makes sense, it's just the goofy ones that attract attention. If every single other law were reported on the news as well as the strange one (if it were possible, that is, to report every single law), the strange one would be lost in the mess, so don't sweat it too much.

I don't disagree about frivolous spending, it could be curbed in almost any state (Wisconsin is having its own issues right now) or any national governement, but worrying about that is not a way to vote.

Like Richard said, grassroots activism is the key, you need to get people voting and voting with an educated purpose in their vote.
