Where's the trunk release?

Post by n2x4 »

I don't think I have one, or do I?

I've had the car for about a year now, and I've never noticed any release lever for the trunk, I've always used the key. Today I was working on the rear bumper and I was looking at the latch, and inside the trunk latch is a cable that looks to me is for a trunk release. I followed it along the right side of the trunk but lost it when it got to the back seat.

So my question, where is the lever? If I don't have a lever, why is there a cable, where does it go? I just can't imagine that I can't find a lever.

Down on the floor, just in front of the driver's seat, by the door sill...

The handle frequently breaks off, so you may only have the little metal lever there.

the trunk release/gas tank opener is the same part on a crx. I had to replace it.

sure enough, I have one. It was a clean break, so it just seemed like the surrounding for the gas lid popper. I found it though, it was really disguised. I've had 2 other people try and find it to see if I was just blind, but they couldn't see it either.

Wish I'd have known it was there before I locked my keys in the trunk and took out the backseat to get to them

I had the exact same problem. Mine was broken flush with the gas release when I got the car. But at least now you know how easy it is to remove the back seat! :D

You know you dont have to remove it, right?

Theres a slider on the upper side of the latch that disables it.
