F---ing Grandma's Marathon

Post by 93forestpearl »

God damn, I hate tourists. Over 60 thousand (yes thouand) invade Duluth for the weekend. They are dumb, obnoxious, and assholes to boot. Granted I'll make a few bucks working in a Canal Park (where the marathon ends, and the focal point) restoraunt, it shure is an annoyance. I can't even drive to work tomorrow morning because of the marathon. Hopefully its not raining, and i can skate there.

Speaking of rain. If it does, we'll be screwed. Everyone will try to go inside where ever they can, and we'll end up on a 2.5-3 hour wait. Shure, my section will be full the whole time and cash is nice, but......... fuck!

If you're curious as to what Grandma's Marathon is all about, its the second largest in the U.S., IIRC. Over 9000 people run in the full marathon, not including the 3-4k in the half marathon, and a couple other events. It would be pretty sweet as a runner. You run almost the whole thing along the scenic drive which is right on the north shore of Lake Superior. You run into downtown, which is at the tip of Lake Superior and it ends in Canal park where the whole shebang is.

Damn near.

It came and went without too big of a hitch. It did rain for a little bit, but we didn't get hit too bad. At least we get all the drinkers (Old Chicago) :P
