I was thinking something like that, but I know that you know FAR more about this stuff than I do....

I may do that.

Any particular rating I should get? I've seen some on eBay that are meant for up to 25 amps.

And what you mean is bridge a wire between the ON and START wires with the switch in the middle? As in without cutting either wire?

Yes, that is what I mean. Or you can cut the START wire if you like; if you do, the ignition switch will never work for starting the car.

25A would probably be okay (the starter solenoid shouldn't draw anywhere near that much current), but put a 25A fuse in series with it. The existing fuse is rated at 45A, so it could allow enough current to flow through the switch to cause a fire.

Well, my 'rents have agreed to pay for a new ignition switch, so I'm gonna do that.

Burned the shit out of my arm trying to get under the i/c to jumper the starter to the battery.
