How hard to put 6 x 9's in the rear?

Post by neonglh »

Our car's have 6.5" speakers all around, correct? I have a nice set of 6.5" for the fronts, and I have an extra set of 6 x 9's, and I am wondering how hard it woudl be to get them in the rear. I want some rear fill!

Some metal cutting and possible spacers because the tension rods for the trunk go right underneath the speakers there.

62.6 m/s @ 0.66 bar. Gotta love boost. :)

is it ok to cut through that metal in the rear dash?
is it ok to remove the tension bars, or modify them?

Why wouldnt it be? On my neon, I've drilled, but, modified pretty much every piece of metal on the car, so I think cuting the rear dash panel will be fine :D

The tension bars you could remove, but your trunk wouldn't pop open anymore.

If were widening the holes, we should just be able to go in, instead of centering it in the current hole. This will make it clear the bars.

Other then the fact that 6"x9" speakers sound like ass... Ya its not a problem but why don't you just buy the correct speakers? Round speakers sound better and then you don't have to cut up your legacy!

you still due if they are any larger at all, there is a hole in the metal dash made just the size of the stock speakers, my rears are blown, i have two rears in the garage laying around which i think happen to be 6x9s (about that size, they are oval shaped) as well, they are free and are 4way speakers
thats why i would want to cut it up
