My new bumper

Post by jnorion »

I picked up an SS front bumper from adema2626 last week, and last night I had a chance to install it finally. It looks much better than the stock POS bumper.

This thing is a bitch to take off! There were 56 (yes, that says fifty-six) freaking fasteners I ended up having to remove to get the old bumper skin off.

And just in case you were wondering, ten or twelve of those were easy to reach and remove and the rest were buried somewhere. It took me about two hours to remove the old skin.

More pictures. Here's the car with the old bumper:

(sorry about the quality, forgot the flash was off on this one)

In the process. Stupid motherfucking bumper. That's what I thought. :P

And finally, the new bumper:

Obviously it needs to be cleaned up a bit and there's a little crack in the passenger side, but for $25 I can't complain. Hopefully this week I will have a chance to scrub and wax the whole car and get it looking more put together.

Well, apparently this one didn't come in my color either. Was there more than one shade of white? My car is the arctic white, but the bumper looks more of a pearl/cream white. It's not very noticeable and it's also dirty, but you can tell a little.

Definitely two shades of white. My '91 L is pearl white. I'm not sure of Subaru's name for it, but its different from the Arctic White for sure.
