Trunk light on dash doesn't work, changed bulb and...

awhile back i had my gauge cluster out and i remembered that my trunk light didnt not work on the dash. so i replaced the bulb with a known good bulb and it still does not work. is there two pin switchs for the trunk lid? one for the dash light and one for the light in the trunk? i even put other clusters in my car and the trunk dash light would still not light. whats the deal? anyone know? did a search came up with nothing....

You didn't mention if the light in the trunk is working or not. only that the light or LED to be exact was not working in the cluster.

the dash light is not a led its just a minture bulb. i changed that one out with a known good one. the trunk light does work. so i dont get it. anyhelp would be great thanks guys

not all the cars had trunk lights. I don't think I've ever seen one on mine.

Some cars dont have sunroof lights either.

I think we should start a thread about whats missing from lower end units and another for whats missing as the years proceded.

For example, early units had white dots on the direction indicators for the vents, so it was real easy to see which way they are pointing. Another is the automatic transmission indicators that CHANGE COLOR when the manual button is pressed. I could go on and on! Subaru really cheaped out later on.

My 91 doesnt have either sunroof or trunk lights... But does have the color changing AT indicators...

I thought only wagons have trunk lights, our wagon does, but our 4 sedans don't. My turbo doesn't have a sunroof light either

they are the same pic. but the unit that has the lil pic of the car differs from sedan and wagon. i put a wagon one in my sedan once and my door sensors where all mixed up.

homeslice are you sure your not thinking of that turbo wagon you had, and not your sedan. i swear i read somewhere that the telltale door ajar monitoring system was only to monitor door activity, as the rear gate on the wagon was considered a "5th" door, and a trunk is not. also i believe it mentioned the fact that its to protect from exhaust fumes entering the passenger compartment if the rear wagon gate was ajar.
