91 legacy help??

Post by dstar »

i have a 91 legacy sport sedan. when i go to get on the gas it seems to cut out. I have to add pressure to the gas pedal slowly in order to have a smooth acceleration, if i try flooring it, it just jerks a few times and takes forever to gain speed. Recently the boost control was disconected and then reconected and now is running a lot better and has more power, but still cuts out ocasionally. Can anyone help me with the diagnosis?

MAF sensor? Look for black smoke out your tailpipe when you floor it...

hum.......sounds alot like what my 87 GL wagon does when I dont drive it for a while. I'm curious to know what this problem might be. I keep impecable tune ups on my cars so I know the plugs wires cap and rotor are good there.

Sounds like it could be a vacuum leak. check all the fittings. especially the ones around the weird box after the 90* fitting and just before the elbow into the turbo. there are several lines there and hte one on the underside from the bottom of the FBC was loose on mine. After checking all the vacuum lines, look for any other possible pinholes in the air system, especially after the MAF.

Also, try resetting the ECU. sometimes that scares away the gremlins.

Hey, just letting you know, the keyboard shortcut for the degree symbol is (Alt+248), so hold down the alt key then type 248 let go of the alt and you have an........... ° cool huh. While I'm at it, the keyboard shortcut key for micro, like used in microns alt+0181 as in µ . I have to use these things in excel all day long at work, so I thought I'd share the info.
