WRX Springs - Damn Sticky!! Still Need Help...

Post by Soarer »

I've read over that sticky a few times but still have some questions.

Which OEM Subaru springs can I bolt in directly to my 91ss AWD that will stiffen her up a bit and drop it about one inch. I just bought new KYB AG-2 struts and new OEM rear top mounts. So, I don't want to change any of that stuff up. Are there any direct bolt ins?

04+ WRX springs seem to be what you're looking for.

Just bought a set of 04 wrx springs today for $45 shipped to my door. I'll post up how they work out for me.

DAMN IT!!!! I tried to install the 2004 WRX springs that I got last night and they DO NOT FIT. The spring diameters were totally off. I only tried the fronts.

I think they might work if I got the WRX top hats but I'm not sure.

Also, when I put the WRX spring next to my 91ss spring, it didn't look much better. They were the same thickness. I'm not sure it's going to be much of an upgrade at all.

I think they should fit in the rear, but you'll need front perches. Sorry, I'm going from stuff I've read on here too.

And the wrx springs should be stiffer and lower.

It's definitely an upgrade. Trust me.

Yes, you need the WRX spring perches/top hats for the fronts. I gave the part # in the sticky.

It works. I've been driving on them for over 10k miles now.

This is getting totally ridiculous. I just pulled out the rear seat, removed the rear strut assembly, took the spring off, tried to install the wrx spring and IT DOES NOT FIT.

I bought a set of 2004 wrx springs an the rear spring is TOO SHORT. When I uncompressed the spring it did not expand enough to seat on the upper and lower perches. What the F is up with this mod????????????? I don't know if the guy I bought the springs from gave me ones of a different year or maybe a base impreza or something or if there is just a lot of bad info floating around this mod.

Whatever it is, I'm pissed. And now I've got to go put everything back to stock and waste another hour. :-(
