Q's about Whiteline Products

Post by livestrong14 »

Hey guys,

I am looking at getting some Whiteline flat out springs and a whiteline rear sway-bar. Are any of you using these parts? What changes did you feel? Does the swaybar come with bushings? Thanks

Josh (Legacy777) still has Whiteline springs on his car IIRC. Ask him.

there good. get them. but if your smart youll spend your money on coilovers for a gc which will be the same price as getting a whiteline agx settup. unless of course if you want to drive around on shocks that have massive miles on them

I'd rather have AGXes with whitelines than a set of crap megan racing, tein or e-bay coilovers.

Yeah I like my whitelines.....they're not too much of a drop, just right. With the AGX's or even the GR2's they make for a pretty good setup.

Their swaybars are nice.

Just got mine in from Australia, and plan on putting them on tonight.

They F'in rock.

I can now regularly corner hard enough to twist the chassis enough to cause the dome light to turn on.

It feels much more planted, and allows me to accelerate out of a corner a bit sooner.

All in all, the best $400 I have spent on my car.

The biggest front they had and the biggest rear.

That happens to be a 22 in the front and a 20 adjustable in the rear set on medium.

22mm front bar: BSF19X

There are two adjustable rear bars listed, for 89-92 and 92-94. I'm assuming that has to do with the endlinks.

BSR17XZ for droplinks
BSR19XZ for c-links

It's listed as a 20mm bar, so the adjustment probably goes from ~18-22, but I don't know. PDM lists it as 20-24mm.

Also if you go to the whiteline website you can view the catalog pages for specific cars (or download the whole thing). A lot of impreza stuff will fit that isn't listed for our cars.

you just put tein in teh same category as ebay and megan racing?

havent been tuning cars for very long have you

not only are they not in teh same price range (ok fine maybe basics are) but their not even in the same league as the above mentioned.

ive had a whiteline agx setup and a tein flex settup. even basics i belive would be much better than a whiteline agx in a cost vs performance comparison.

still cant belive you made that comparison

 fool.

So what, I'm supposed to love them because they're the cool japanese coilovers? Nothing tein makes has impressed me or made me want it (not to mention their springs are complete garbage). They're really stiff, don't have enough travel, and there really isn't anything that great about them. If I was buying coilovers, they'd probably be KW V3s, RCE, or Ohlins Sportlines.

And yeah, in this price range we are talking about basics, which are comparable to megan racing, which are not worth buying imo.

and then you put rce in the same group as ohlins and kw's...... seriously. in every grouping so far youve posted you could sing a little song

one of these things is not like the others.
one of these things just doesnt belong.

id still get super racings over kwv3's just because ive seen kw's get owned on the track.

and as far as durablity and customer support goes id get basics over megans. if your consdering what you get for the money as far as product goes id get megan. just realize that you cant use the camberplates after a few hundred miles.

The new Racecomp coilovers are based on the KW V3s. How is that wrong?

And these other coilovers have ~3" of travel compared to 6-8 on a stock setup. Kostamojen on nasioc has unpredictable snap oversteer now that he's running megan racing, probably because he runs out of droop suddenly in the rear. Unless you have stiff springs and big swaybars and only drive on smooth surfaces, why would you want either?

You've seen KWs get "owned" on the track- what do you even mean by that? How about providing some sort of real evidence or technical information to back up your claims that I'm wrong instead of just being a dick.

if you have high spring rates you dont want larger sways unless you do want "snap oversteer" so im confused by your coment on why you would want either?

and on kw's getting owned. the preload put on the shock takes away that movement and bottoms out sooner than super racings. im in no way saying their bad, just not the best imo

btw i never would adovcate megan for racing purposes. but for a street car their fine. and since the op was asking about springs i dont think trackdays are in the works in which case bargin basement coilovers are an option that will provide more satisfaction than springs.

btw kosta may be experiencing snap oversteer but i wouldnt atribute that to just the coilovers. there are alot of things that could cause that. a rear sway thats too large. too much dampening taken out of the front. the latter of which does cause VERY unperdictable oversteer that can happen in an agx settup if you run 1 and 8.

just checked. 6k rear spring with a wrx 20 mm sway. the sway alone on a gc and h&r springs will cause snap oversteer. friend nearly put his car in a ditch doing a 180 going up hill at the exit of a 180* turn. did i mention he had a 1.8 motor in the car and wasnt going over 30mph? he also had a matching front sway which ended up being his issue. threw a 22 on there and boom. problem solved.

A brief question about the rear whiteline springs? on pdm this is what they say: "Check top and bottom ID of original spring. If top = 125mm & bottom = 141mm use 70369. If top = 95mm & bottom = 138mm use 70368". I am assuming that the 69's are non-tapered for my car (1992), while the 68's are tapered (for 1990-1991). Am I correct in thinking this? Also what have been people's experience with PDM?

You are correct in your thinking that the 68's are tapered & 69's are non-tapered.
