Wecome Ryan and congrats! Don't feel bad, you are not the only one that
broke that nipple off. Being that the car is that old and underhood temps
get rather high, most of the plastic and rubber pieces become hard(aka, no
flexibility at all) over the years, especially the intake hoses and PCV
hoses. If you must work on them, make sure the engine is warm. It's
unfortunate that your experience started off a bit shaky, but just keep in
mind, you got one hell of a car there. In my opinion, and minor problems you
will happen to run into will all be worth it. I mean, you JUST BOUGHT A 5
SPEED SPORT SEDAN!!!!!!!

Weird shapen box? Hmmm... (runs outside to look under hood at 11PM to
see what Ryan is describing... Ah! Driver side, not the right.
Gotcha.) yhea. Old hoses. Previous owner musta parked it in a garage
all the time - tends to dry out the hoses. Which may actually be good
news (Really!) b/c the car is probably in excellent condition if the
driver cared enough to park it indoors and out of the elements.
However if you live someplace dry that will happen to hoses. There is
an after market solution to this someone already may have clued you
in on - better hoses. I forget what they make them out of, some kind
of plastic, but they last longer and put up with higher temps etc.

Yhea, but that warranty is gonna come in REAL handy! When you take it
back to them you ought to ask them what kind of a inspection they
gave the vehicle prior to selling it to you. Might not be such a bad
idea to have them give it a once over again...

Bummer. Cars break down. Fact of life. My back is going south on me
and I'm only 25!
Good news: you have a bunch of folks on this group that will give you
the 411 on how to do the replacement on those hoses or a dozen other
things on your car if you need. In this case you have a warranty to
stand behind (don't let them tell you it isn't part of the
drivetrain! Without that hose, it doesn't drive or train!
)
Well Ryan, you are now the proud new owner of a Turbo Legacy sedan.
Don't let anyone tell you they can take you in the corners b/c you
have 4wd now baby! you keep that foot on the gas and point it where
it you want it to go!

Hi Ryan
congratulations on the new Turbo, and a 5 speed (big sigh) i wish mine was a
5 speed.
you gave a canadian price for the car so i guess you are from C.anada, i
wonder if you are near here i am from Nova Scotia. Last Decemnber i paid
$7000, for a 91 turbo sports sedan, and had to immediatly put on 2 rear
shocks, since then its been trouble free (except fopr a front wheel bearing)
Have fun

Hi Ryan, Nice car I am sure you will enjoy it. One thing on the
broken nipple I had the same and found that if you can find a drill
bit the same size as the nipple you can use the broken part on the
tank as a pilot and drill almost all the way thru the plastic, use
epoxy on it and force the nipple into the drilled hole and add then
add some epoxy around the nipple. this gives it more support and
is stronger. I used JB weld it is still holding after 3 years.

Ryan: Those turbo-specific burp tanks are problematic and they don't epoxy
worth a damn. When mine gave out, my dealer who normally stocks nearly
nothing had one on the shelf. You should be good for the next eight years.

Glueing those burp tanks spooks me. I drilled, threaded and glued an
aluminum mine with JB Weld, but it gave out after a couple f months.
It appears as though the plastic absorbs antifreeze and just becomes a
punky surface not suitable for glueing. The price to pay for that thing
giving out could be an entire engine. I'm as cheap as they come and I
always go to great lengths to avoid doing anything right, but I still
think a new tank is a prudent investment.
By the way, I absolutely LOVE this site!!!!!
