ECU Codes

Post by 1990 Legacy L Owner »

Ok, so I was just getting codes off the ECU. This is my first time trying to get the codes so I may be completely wrong. The one problem I had is I couldn't tell when they started over.

As far as I can tell, there's a shit load wrong. These came up...

11, 12, 13, 22, 24, 35, 49

The reason I think I have to be wrong(at least I'm hoping) is because I don't think my car would run as smooth as it does if all those things came up.

Any help?

oh, I also noticed ,when I still had the tray cover off while driving, there was some clicking going on under there. The check engine light wasn't going on and off and the turn signal wasn't on. :?

what connector did you plug in to get the codes. green or black? green is for running code check and the black is for code check with engine off. also make sure that they are not both plugged in at the same time.

is your car totally stock?

when driving do you normally have a check engine light on?

also if you disconnect the negative cable from the battery and touch the cable to positive terminal for 5 seconds er so, the reconnect the negative cable. then try looking for the codes again.

Yeah, it's totally stock. When driving, the chech engine light comes on periodically, it's not a always on. I'll do the battery thing and plug it back in.

i hate jumping to conclusions but, it very well could be the knock sensor. there was a service bulletin for the old knock sensors. which is a code 22. When my knock sensor was giving me problems the check engine light would come on and go off periodically. this is a very common common problem. you can replace the sensor yourself with a 12 mm socket and a 10 inch extention.

but first i would pull it out and see if there are cracks areound the plastic housing. A new sensor or even a good one out of a junk yard can make your car run so much better

Reset the ECU, check the codes again (verify there's none stored), drive the car, and after the CEL comes on, check the codes again.
