AVC-R installed !!

Post by Ben Lam »

Hi People, I just installed the Apex-i AVC-R and doing setting.
Could any one tell me whats the highest Kg/cm for our turbo, should
the turbo cut at 12 psi or 8.4Kg/cm?? I just do the setting yesterday
and the boost just cut at around 8.3Kg/cm in heavy load (5 people and
going up hill)
If I don't turn on the boost control the car just has around 4 to 5
Kg/cm, its not as the factory boost out put? is there are something
wrong???
BTW, Shariff, whats the setting you did and I think I got the wrong
connection on the Throttle single wire, because the reading on the
meter is always shows 100% on the throttle, could you tell me which
one is for the throttle?
Have fun guys!!!

Ben, glad you finally got it hooked up man! Congrats. Boost cut is somewhere
right around 13psi so if you set it at 12psi, you should be fine.

With the AVC-R off, I would think boost would be around 6psi (give or take a
1 psi). The factory boost solenoid makes the boost higher so without that,
and without your AVC-R on, only the spring in the wastegate controls the
boost, that's why it's so low. Have fun with it!

AVC-R installed !!

Howdy: On my AVC-R, the throttle position wire is gray and it hooks up
to a black wire that comes ou of the twelve pin connector to the ECU. My
AVC-R makes me choose whether to monitor RPM or injector duty cycle
(purple wire) so I have a switch in that wire. When reading injector
duty cycle, you have to set the unit up as a one cylinder car. I think
that is a really bogus feature. It should read RPM and IDC
simultaneously.

I brought all the signals that a boost controller or an aftermarket fuel
controller could ever want into a plastic project box with a 2X12
position screw terminal block. All wires and terminals are marked with
Dymo labels. I think that dropping that ECU out of its tight location
and putting it back is a dangerous operation, so I wanted all the signals
that I normally use to be in a handy location that does not require
wrestling the ECU through the maze.. My GREDDY boost limitercut gizmo
also fits in the project box. My ECU code checker is also permanently
wired to a rocker switch so I don't have to spelunk to check error codes.

I glued my AVC-R stepper motor to the plastic lid on the ABS brain and
the pressure sensor is glued to the side of the ABS brain box. I use
Marine Goop or Outdoor Goop. All Goop products are otherwise identical,
but Marine and Outdoor Goops are UV stable. I also use Goop on suspect
vacuum line fittings and secure then with a tiny zip-tie. The ABS brain
location allows for extremely short hoses and it does not broadcast the
existence of modifications to EPA vehicle inspectors. I cleared this
installation with APEXi tech support.

HI Bill, I would like to ask you more info for the set up of the AVC-
R, How could I make a stable boost on my car?
How can I calculate the boost duty %? I don't even understand from
the manual, could you show me how to calculate it?
I connect the gray wire to the 12 pin connector at the top row 2nd
slot from right concer? is it a right connection??
My current set-up in Setup [A] is Boost .50kg/cm and the boost duty
is 63%, and at Set up , the boost is at 55kg/cm and the duty is
65%!
The boost somehow has overboost when I step on the 4 gear under
3000rpm, and it will runs 8.4Kg/cm
Also how could I set the scarmbel boost botton?
I try to set it but when I pess it, it doesn't have any respond, am I
did something wrong?
Man, I like Carzy , I'm happy with the performance of this unit just
don't wanna hurt my engine at all!!
Thanks for reply, or if you could please add me to your ICQ, my # is
9122766.
