setup. The larger piece right before the MAF is there to suppose to help
calm the air going through the MAF. I have heard and read about this
before. I honestly don't know how it effects the airflow or not. I have a
similar style filter. Akimoto Funnel Ram 2 filter. Supposedly a different
model of the funnel ram 2 had the larger opening directly after the filter.
Mine however does not have this, so I don't know. If anyone has a BIG fan
and two filter types we can play wind tunnel

show you any difference, but you get the idea.
Also, in about 2 months, (winter break) I'm going to be designing/making
sort of a cold air box or something to that effect for my NA 2.2. I
definitely want to separate the filter from the hot air from the engine.
I'd also like to find someway to get some ducting to the front of the car so
I get clean air being put in there. If anyone has any ideas or
suggestions....I'm all ears. When I do this, I'll do my best to document
and take pictures of everything. Maybe Santa will have to get me that
digital camera early

Take Care

Nigel, mine looks nearly identical for the one in the picture you sent,
except that mine is only one size in diameter, where as the one in you
picture looks like it is larger on the MAF side to equal the MAF's diameter,
then funnels down to equal the size of the rest of the intake.
If enough of you guys are interested, I can see if the guy who whipped mine
up will make knock out a few more. However, you will need the air filter and
MAF adapter, silicone connectors and clamps, and you would have to make your
own bracket( I simply used a few zip ties. Hey, it works). What I would
provide is simply the intake pipe. Like I said, if enough of you guys are
interested, I will check with him as soon as I get a chance and see what
he'd make a few for. I would assume it would be under $30.00 for the acutal
intake pipe, but that's just a guess. Just drop me an e-mail at
nzwrc1@sunlink.net if you're interested.
