Howdy All-and a tranny question

Post by Justin Brande »

Once again, thanks to Bill for telling me about this site. I'm glad
we can all get together, perhaps we can create a presence that
aftermarket manufacturers will notice. Hey Dave, yes, I still have
my '91 with the EJ20. As far as EJ20 turbos go, it's fairly low on
the totem pole, but I must say, it's awesome. The synchros in my
tranny are very worn, my 1-2 shift is terribly slow, so I am unable
to really accelerate as hard as I might like. Has anyone ever had
their tranny rebuilt? Has anyone ever rebuilt their own tranny? I'm
just looking for what the cost was to have it done, or how difficult
it was to do yourself.

I know JC Sports does a lot with them and i'm considering letting
them swap the slushbox out of mine.

Hey Justin

How's it goin, I ran across your site a while ago, nice job on the engine
swap. My auto is on it's way out too. Dave and I have talked about gettin
them converted to 5spd. Dave said JCSports would do it for 2500 or
something like that. I haven't gotten around to call them or see if I could
just get all the parts to do it. Not sure if you'd be interested in
something like that.

If that's not an option, I'll probably just get it rebuilt, I don't know if
you can put performance parts in it or not. It'll probably be around
1000-1500 to have it rebuilt. One of my mom's friends owns a transmission
shop.

Josh
