What does your automatic idle at?

i was driving in my automatic 90 bc and my car was idleing a litle low. its at 500rpm now but i think the last time i drove ithe car it was at 650rpm. i never messed with the idle screw becauce its computer adjusted. what does your automatcs idle at?

my Manual LegacyT idle at around 400-500rpm.. more 400 than 500

yeah....they like to idle low.....actually....I think most subies I have seen have idled a tad low.

Other thing I have heard is that the tach is off slightly.......

The thing is, is it a smooth idle? I wouldn't worry about what the tach says, I'd worry about how smooth it is. If it shakes or misfires, then you might have a problem...

I've been hunting down my bad idle for months now, only got a few options left...

If you look real close at the bottom of each Subaru gauge, it says "for entertainment purposes only." if your idle is smooth, it's fine. idle is just that.... idle. it's running but doing nothing. so as long as it's smooth and low that's all that matters. if your AC is going or you have a lot of electricals going you might get some roughness or alternator whine. but other than that just the normal boxer purr and maybe a little valve clatter if it's still cold.
