Radiator compatability

Post by Splinter »

Hey guys, the rad in my 98 Impreza RS just sprung a fairly decent sized leak, and Im supposed to be heading out on a fairly long road trip tomorrow night, Im not sure if I can get a replacement radiator in time... anyone know how close a fit the rad from the NA first gen legacy is? I have a spare one of those in good condition.

Not sure if it'll work.....if it physically fits.....I don't see a problem with using it.

If it's an NA Legacy I am pretty sure it will fit. IIRC, it's the turbo ones that are taller. You will likely need to use the fans from the Legacy as well since the bolt up is different. Or you can just hang the later fans by 2 bolts each...

Ok well I did it... the NA legacy rad is too short, threw in some exhaust hangers as spacers and a few other minor mods, and its in and leak-free

Off to Alberta I go!

Interesting note: This leads me to believe that aftermarket 93-01 Impreza rads should fit our cars.

That's correct. I know a couple CO locals running Koyos on their NA leggies...
