o2 sensors

Post by bussaca2@aol.com »

Gonna replace my O2 sensors. seeing as there stock from date of purchase. And
i just got a check engine light. Dealer said it's nothing major ,just one of
the O2's is dirty, or corroded, or damaged. How many are there? and how much
am i lookin to spend per O2 sensor... Can i do it. or should i let my dealer
do it..? Will i have to reset my ECU after install?

Dave,

I'm at work and I don't have access to my manuals <warning: talking out of ass> but I looked into this in the SOA manuals and it looks pretty straight forward. Not totally inaccessable but you'll have to get your car up on stands or jacks of some sort b/c it's underneath on the exhaust. *should* be a simple remove and replace. I don't know about re-setting the ECU tho.</talking out of ass>

If I remember when I get home I'll look it up again and let you know.

Hey Dave not sure about yours. But on my 90 Legacy there was only one O2 sensor. But they changed models half way through the year...and lucky me...I got the more expensive one. They're easy to change...just unplug the wiring, unscrew, and put the new one in.

Not sure about the ECU thing.....I guess it couldn't hurt things.

There should only be one, as the 90-94 are OBDI. OBDII requires a
pre and post-cat O2 sensor.

On the Turbo it's relatively simple but i'm not sure about the NA
engines.

Hi-just a short confirmation on O2 sensor for the 90-94 cars. Mine is a `92
with one sensor only-just replace with ORIGINAL EQUIP & you`ll be ok; pricey
though as they`re heated (unlike some of the earlier Subies)-about $90!
Should be good for another 100k-on my NA motor, no resetting of the ECU was
necessary, so not to worry-Good luck-ROD
