Anyone interested in a leather shift boot?
I am talking to a company about sending in my stock boot to serve as a template for them to start producing leather boost made specifically for our cars.
Just figured I'd let you guys know.
I'll post up the site and pics of the boot whenever it's done, so if you're interested you can get one.

Taking a guess, I would say about $40-$50.
That's about what some of the other subaru boots cost. Specifically, the early Impreza boots are similar, and they run $40.
Keep in mind, though, these are really good quality leather, or you can choose an alcantara-like material. Since it's custom, you can choose whatever material and whatever stitching you want.

They need to make sure and put a plastic ring in the top so the shifter knob can snap into it. I'd also recommend sending them a shifter knob to test/play with.
The other issue is how to attach it to the base. I got one off ebay for my impreza. They tell you to use the stock rubber base piece to help keep it secured. I found it works ok....but not as well as it should since my plastic trim piece is miessing those little plastic pieces that stick down.

I will be sure to mention that to them.
They say they only need the old shift boot, but I will probably send them pics and dimensions to be sure they get it right.
And since I will be prototyping it for them, I will make sure they do it for the production pieces.

I would be very interested. If they made one that fit on our cars and looked like a WRX boot. I would pay $40-$50.

It is redline.
I am going to see about sending in my boot after the dragon meet this weekend.

ah, but the stock rubber boot just adds to the sleeper effect. ( i did a similar swap and was dismayed to find that my stock plastic knob didn't fit the wrx shifter)
